| 1878 | Gisaburo Shiono, SR., founder of the company,started his career as a drug wholesaler at the present site of the head office, Doshomachi, Osaka. |
| 1886 | The management of Shionogi decided to concentrate on imported Western Drugs. |
| 1892 | Shionogi started manufacture of caffeine and tin chloride at a small plant built in Aioicho, Osaka. |
| 1897 | Shionogi started to deal directly with trading firms in Europe and America. |
| 1909 | Antacidin, an antacid agent, was launched as the first drug produced. The present mark ofû FUNDOH was registered. |
| 1910 | A manufacturing plant, Shiono Seiyakusho,was constructed in Ebie,Osaka. |
| 1919 | Shiono Gisaburo Shoten and Shiono Seiyakusho were merged and the new company was named as Shionogi Shoten Cp., Ltd. with a capital of ¥1,500,000. Established Tokyo offce |
| 1921 | Established the Urae Plant |
| 1922 | Established the Kuise Plant, and the Lab. was set up in the Plant. |
