Establishment of eShionogi USA, Inc.f

Shionogi & Co., Ltd. (Shionogi) established a wholly owned subsidiary named eShionogi USA, Inc.f, where pharmaceutical development in the US will be carried out as of May 15, 2001.

As Shionogifs business plan announced in last April describes, Shionogi recognizes that developing compounds discovered at Shionogi Research Laboratories globally is one of the most important strategies for Shionogifs future.

Shionogi USA, Inc. will be a base of pharmaceutical development in the US, which will proceed with the development by itself (facilitating Contract Research Organization), and/or by entering into an alliance with some partners depending on the compounds to be developed. In addition, it is planning to market in-house products in the future.
